Jan started with an initial assessment of where I am in the English curriculum. It is expected in future sessions to further refine areas of needed tutoring and proceed from there. It is obvious that Jan has vast experience with English and we expect great things from her.

I have taught English for 26+ years, and have had many students with ADD/ADHD. I recognize the symptoms and can adapt my teaching to accommodate them. I give very clear directions and utilize the necessary sequence of events for the lesson at hand. I tailor the lesson to the student, and I frequently change activities and tasks to make sure that the student is following the lesson and stays on task. ... More

We've enlisted Karin's help for almost three months now. She has been nothing short of knowledgeable and helpful, in addition to being reliable and generally versatile with the timing of lessons. A very positive experience.

I have worked for several years with students who have attention issues. I start by giving them a task, for example, a page to read and summarize. This gives me a chance to see their ability to stay focused and understand what they have read. We then develop a plan based on what they can realistically do — perhaps as little as 5 minutes of work followed by a short break. Over time, we keep lengthening the amount of time spent ... More

We have been working with Mrs. Deborah for about one month now and she's been great. She comes well prepared each session and gives my daughter the right amount of work. Mrs. Deborah has great insight and is able to pick up on the child's needs. And she's introducing concepts to get my daughter ready for the next level. Very positive experience so far.
Rebecca is working with my son on math skills to prepare for his GED math test. He has always struggled with math, but told me recently that she is a great teacher and that he is learning. He definitely seems more confident about taking the math portion of the test but wants to continue tutoring for a little more before he schedules it.
