"RIT Grad for math and science Tutoring"
I was responsible for teaching General College chemistry I, II at a large New York Community College for 30 years. Many of my students went on to 4 year universities to successful careers in science, engineering, and medicine. Over the last two years, I have tutored many students in high school chemistry, AP chemistry and MCAT preparation for medical school. I am a strong believer in working many problems in chemistry so students can master the subject. I pride myself in being easy to work wi... ... More

This gentleman has now been my tutor for four weeks and I have excelled in my classes of graduate level Pharmacology and Pathology. Last evening Dr. W. and I conducted a two hour intensive review to prepare me for upcoming oral examinations. He proved to be more exceptional and patient than ever. I learn so much from our sessions that I have decided to continue my study with him for longer than initially thought.

Derek has been working with my twins Jack and Madeline this year and has done an excellent job. He is very dependable yet flexible with our busy schedules. He is also very versatile with their needs. One needs math and the other needs language arts. He has even helped them with their science studies when they were studying for Tcaps. He is very patient with them even when they become frustrated. I highly recommend Derek as a tutor.

"Your Tutor for All Levels of Education from Elementary to University"
My name is Derek and I am a graduate of East Tennessee State University. I completed my Baccalaureate studies in General Studies with a concentration in Business and Public Health. I am currently a J.D. student at Belmont University College of Law. I have been helping students with math, science, reading, and test preparation for over 3 years now.
I use a more cognitive method of teaching, which allows students to reach their own conclusions about whatever problems are facing them, in both... ... More

"Math, Physics, C++, ACT/SAT Prep Junior High through College"
As part of my math education training, I aced college geometry, a proofbased course that focuses on the conceptual assumptions of geometry. I have experience working not only with Euclidean geometry (what most high school courses explore) but also with hyperbolic geometry, which is based on different (and often counterintuitive) assumptions.
In addition to this content area training, I also took math methods, an education course that focused on the pedagogical aspects of how to teach math for high school students' maximal success. ... More

SCIENCE IS NOT JUST FOR SCIENTISTS!
I have always said that no matter where my career choices take me, I will always find time to be an educator. While those choices are leading me towards a career in medicine, my love of teaching won't be pushed aside and I want you to be able to share some of that passion I have for learning.
I found a love for the life sciences and chemistry, and have an equal passion for helping others understand and appreciate the fascinating nature of our universe.

Alan is an incredibly patient tutor with exceptional skill in breaking down mathematical concepts. This was really important for me as I have struggled for many years with a learning disability. He helped me pin the problems to my miscalculations. Moreover, he helped me develop a broader understanding about solving college level algebraic equations so that I am not simply looking for the correct answer. He made real life analogies that left a lasting impression on me. Lastly, I found his enthusiasm for teaching and learning to be highly inspirational. I have the much needed confidence to tackle my nursing entrance exam as our sessions were a great remedy to my test anxiety. Thank you, Alan!

Thankfully Jim S. sent me his profile for the tutor posting I did for my daughter in Physics. Jim has come now for 2 lessons and the light went off in my daughters head. She thoroughly understands and is very confident she can get a good grade on her next test. He clearly knows his stuff and is well if not more than worth his fees.
We will continue to use him for all her needs as he is very diverse in his tutoring subject.

I originally learned Algebra I in 7th grade before it became a state mandate to push every 7th or 8th grader who's able to into Algebra I. I took geometry the following summer and Algebra II with Trigonometry during 8th grade.
From 9th grade on I was called upon by friends in school to tutor them in algebra, and I rapidly became an accomplished algebra tutor during my high school years. In college I joined a Saturday program to teach middle and high school students algebra, gaining another 4 years experience.
More recently I've been called upon to help a college student who was taking Colle ... More

Our child is taking AP Chem. She identified where the student was weakest within the first lesson and is structuring the lessons to help learn the material and learn how to answer questions well. Her depth of knowledge is excellent so that she is able to explain the material clearly. She also appears to be quite familiar with the areas where students struggle and is prepared to deal with them. The emphasis is on a guided learning process so the student is acquiring the skills and confidence to do well on their own. Although only two lessons in the interaction with Jennie is very encouraging and very helpful.

Before I even began my lesson with Larry, he had prepared a 10page lecture in PDF format, showed me where to download his favorite textbook on the subject, and outlined the subsequent weeks of discussing Dynamic Programming. Larry demonstrated a ridiculous level of preparedness and also walked me through a solid introduction of the topic. I look forward to continuing my lessons with him and if you're struggling with any topic related to computer science, you should definitely choose Larry.

Mohammad clearly demonstrated his knowledge and skill about excel. He showed his full interest towards his student and made sure I understood his instructions by asking questions. He walked me through our lesson by first explaining different functions and then allowed me the "hands on" in doing the actual building of worksheets.

Thomas was on time for both tutor sessions and communicated with me in a professional manner. He tutored my daughter prepare for an entrance exam. She says he helped her gain confidence with writing essays and narratives on her own more than any other tutor has in the past. She was so impressed that she asked for one more tutor sessions with him. We definitely recommend TJ (as he prefers to be called) to any parent looking for an English tutor.
