My daughter has some serious health issues that have made it necessary for her to be a cyber student. After two months of doing cyber school on her own, she was frustrated and despondent. We needed some tutoring help fast and were thrilled to find Barbara through WyzAnt. She lives close by and is a retired biology teacher from my daughter's school who shares her love of horses. Initially, my daughter's ability to do school work was erratic and unpredictable, resulting in some last minute cancellations of her tutoring sessions. Barbara was very gracious and understanding of her situation. She has been able to work with my daughter's mood and energy swings and gently guide and support her academic progress. Barbara came with us to meet the cyber teachers and quickly mastered the cyber learning environment. She is very enthusiastic about biology and makes learning about it fun. I am a biological scientist myself and have been very favorably impressed by the depth of her knowledge in this field. In addition to being a great biology teacher, Barbara has been very flexible and accommodating with scheduling her visits to our home. She is warm and personable and has an upbeat, can do attitude that helps lifts everyone's spirits. She supports my daughter emotionally as well as academically and is genuinely interested in her well being. In short, she is as close to perfect for this job as anyone could possibly be. My daughter would not be where she is now academically if she had not had Barbara's help. I feel very fortunate and grateful to have found such a gem of a tutor.

"30 year science teacher can assist with keystone biology exam and more"
As a public high school science teacher with 30 years of experience (including grades 9-12, gifted through inclusion student), I have a wealth of knowledge and experience with learning and education. After retiring from a very successful teaching career (including a Big on line science competition win) I have been 'redefining' myself as a tutor finding great satisfaction working one on one or with small groups of students.
Some of my students (from college level through junior high school)... ... More

I am a stay at home dad with four small children (ages 7 and 6, and 17 month old twins) and tutor as a way of sharing my passion for science. I was a biology major and chemistry minor in college and am an excellent tutor for all things scientific. I earned my PhD in cellular and molecular biology focusing on heart development. I enjoy helping students learn that science can be both interesting and fun. Whether you are struggling to understand the concepts or just need a little extra help, ... ... More

"Lighting Director and professional photographer for 35 years"

My preparation for this very successful career was by studying Film History and Theory at UCLA. So the way that I teach photography is not primarily technical. I approach it through art photography history and studying the masters, both past and present.
I teach art photography history and theory combined with the technical skills of working a camera and processing pictures wit... ... More
My husband and I were very fortunate to find Jazmine on WyzAnt to tutor my 15-year-old daughter in Spanish. I looked for a local Spanish tutor for some time and could not find anyone who was nearby and within my budget. Jazmine began by evaluating my daughter's knowledge to determine her current level before proceeding. She makes Spanish fun and incorporates many different methods to teach, including movies, videos and articles, in addition to traditional methods such as flashcards, worksheets, quizzes and tests. She also accommodates my hectic schedule, and she always has a smile on her face!
Jazmine is an excellent communicator. She plans her sessions in advance and sends a detailed email to me ahead of time so that I know what they will be working on. She also sends me a review after each class.
I strongly recommend Jazmine for anyone who is seeking a Spanish tutor!

"Professional Tutor-Multiple Disciplines"
My junior year of high school I took a school-age child development class. In that class I did an intensive research project on childhood ADD/ADHD; however, a lot of my knowledge of the condition was gained by working with children with the disorder. My 10-year-old niece has a slight case of ADHD and babysitting her has taught me a lot. My sophomore year of high school I volunteered at a daycare/preschool where a lot of the children had special needs and I also tutored elementary school students in a special ed class and some of the children had some form of attention and hyperactivity disorde ... Mary is extremely helpful. She knows a lot about garments construction and what will and will not work. I have worked on my collections on my own time and showed her my progress with the last two sessions and she always has comments, praise, and suggestions, which is really encouraging. Mary also knows a lot about machine maintenance and has helped me to both dust and oil my machine. We have so far worked on construction with shine finished fabrics, sewing points, trimming and grading, boning, and elastic. Next we are planning to work with collars and hand stitching. Again, she is very knowledgeable with a lot of resources and is super friendly!
