I attended Norwich University majoring in both history and English. I am a voracious reader and love any form of literature. I took classes such as American History, European History, Medieval History, Russian History, both Classical and Modern Literature, Modern Chinese History, American Government and Politics, and Greek Mythology. I believe in a hands-on and active approach to learning. I find that with problems of memorization, using both red or other brightly colored pens and pacing whil... ... More

"Learn how to enjoy a book and get the most out of your reading"

Presently I work as a Reading Specialist with Middle and High School special needs students. My case load consists of students with a variety of disabilities such as Autism, Aspergers, ADD/ADHD, Dyslexia, and emotional difficulties. For my students with ADD/ADHD I am very cognizant that they may need periods of time within each session to move about and that as instruction occurs they may need to manipulate something in their hands or possibly chew gum. I chunk many of my lessons into working on reading and giving student short breaks. I have found many of my students enjoy being read to thus en ... More

We chose Evan after reviewing several tutors. We contacted him and he agreed to take on our son as a student to get him up to speed for his upcoming midterm in a few weeks and we agreed upon the meeting place which was our local library. Evan met with our son for the first session but did not line up the next session which we had ask to be done at the end of the session. After a day and a half of no communication I sent Evan another email requesting to set up the next couple of sessions with no response. Late that evening I sent him a text message with the same request. He responded that it wasn't going to work out due to the driving distance and to get another tutor from WyzAnt. He knew all the information before he excepted my son as a student. He wasted a lot of valuable time my son needed to prepare for his midterm. I ended up scrambling at the last minute back through the other tutors we had seen and lined up someone else. But now they have to take the time to evaluate my son's strengths and weaknesses to know where he needs to concentrate his efforts. Evan should have been upfront to begin with. I can not really evaluate his tutoring capabilities since we didn't get far enough to get results.
Great teacher that takes the time to explain the little things that trip you up, my daughter was so pleased with Adlan!! Definitely worth every penny.
