Sharilyn L.

reviews
I highly recommend Sharilyn to anyone seeking a Spanish tutor. I am in my early 50's and have had many teachers and tutors in my lifetime and she is one of the very best. She is an extremely bright and accomplished woman, highly educated with a natural gift and passion for languages, yet she is warm, encouraging, approachable, and friendly. If you work hard, you will progress quickly with her. She uses a variety of teaching tools to keep your interest peaked in the lesson and she is very open to what and how you want to learn---she is great at individualizing the teaching. She has augmented our lessons with various books, including poetry (a passion of mine), Spanish magazines and newspapers, BINGO games when learning the numbers (great fun!), magnetic word games, etc...She has an infectious love of Spanish and has lived in Spanish-speaking countries and is completely fluent. She is very patient, energetic, reliable, fun--laughs and smiles a lot. My one-hour lessons whip by quickly always. I especially like how she works with what YOU want to cover and she is very open to you selecting the materials you're most comfortable with. I have worked with Sharilyn nearly seven months now and couldn't be more pleased. The lessons have added something fun and challenging and enriching to my life, and have broadened my understanding of a culture rich in history, poetry, art, music, and dance--a culture quickly blending with my own.

"Have fun learning Spanish"
Hi! If you are looking for a tutor or teacher to help you with Spanish, I would enjoy helping you work with the language.
I have a post-baccalaureate in Spanish from the University of Washington. Studies abroad in Peru and Guatemala have helped connect grammar with spoken Spanish. I have spent a significant amount of time along the Pacific and Atlantic coasts of Mexico. This has included the ability to live in a home in Yelapa, Mexico this Spring, as well as read to children in Spanish... ... More

She is beyond knowledgeable and has such a gentle way of teaching that my sons felt almost like it was becoming easier to understand Chemistry. They really struggled throughout the year as the young teacher they had at the high school level just wasn't reaching her students. Shehnaz was able to explain in such a way that both their grades have improved and they feel more confident going into their final. She is also just a very kind, accommodating person that has opened her home to my boys. We are so very appreciative.

Betty worked with our 4th grader on multiplication, division, and starting algebra. She even is in contact with our son's teacher to insure they are working together.
