"Experienced, Friendly, Ivy League Tutor"
I hold a PhD in Anthropology from Columbia University. I have a lot of teaching experience, from lecturing in 300 student classes to one-on-one tutoring. I've taught children with reading problems in Holt Michigan, and taught English as a second language to children in Hong Kong, where I also worked as a private tutor. I have taught archaeology and anthropology classes at Columbia University in New York City and at Community College in Baltimore. In sum, I have taught a variety of subjects t... ... More

Katie has tutored my son for about 3 months now and has done a wonderful job. She is so enthusiastic about teaching kids biology. You can tell it truly is her passion. She has a way of keeping it fun and interesting so my son can relate and learn very quickly. She does it by using examples, diagrams and many times finding u tube videos to watch. She goes above and beyond.
I highly reccomend her to anyone whose son or daughter might be struggling or not understanding a concept.

"Harvey Mudd Grad, Kind and Patient Tutor"
Kathryn has discovered that compassion and academic performance are strongly positively correlated (and that the relationship is causal). It is on this foundation that she's built her success as a tutor and the successes of her students.
Kathryn is a professional private tutor and Effective Altruist who, when she's not nerding out about gauge/gravity duality, spends her time helping people understand tough concepts in math, science, English, and critical reading. Too often, she finds that he... ... More

"Creative, Hard Working, Willing and Able to go the Extra Mile! "
I am a recent college graduate from Brigham Young University, Idaho. I have always been the one to help other students understand when they are not able by using different words and descriptions to teach subject matter. I believe in guiding the student to the answer and not just giving it to them, so that they have the opportunity to learn and find confidence that they can figure out the answer on their own. I have always been able to encourage others, so that they are able to achieve more th... ... More

Kay was very pleasant, professional, and accommodating. I was thrilled to have someone to share my assignments with and explain what I had done but I was very disappointed that Kay was not as well versed in statistical procedures nor SPSS as her profile had lead me to believe. I needed to know how to run a factorial ANOVA on SPSS and Kay did not know how to guide me or lead me on the exercise and her knowledge of power and effect sizes, while present, was not strong enough that she could teach with confidence. I would not be surprised if Kay is an AWESOME math teacher but her statistics are at the basic level at best. However, it is very expensive to pay someone to be a "study buddy," which is what our time together was.

Mrs. Bonnie has been working with my daughter for over a year now with reading and math. She continues to impact my daughter's educational growth. I have nothing but great things to say about Mrs. Bonnie. She has that special touch, you can truly see her passion when she sits down to tutor. She is very patient and very sweet. If you are looking for a patient and dedicated tutor, she is a great choice!

Karen just started tutoring my daughter who is in 5th grade. She came and met us and administered an assessment test to see where my daughters strengths are and where she needs help. As Karen explained she is not there to help with homework but to make sure my daughter is where she needs to be by the end of 5th grade. I like that approach. I'm looking forward to see how this goes. She is a lovely and personable lady with a very extensive background in education.
