We specifically looked for a tutor who can help with our 11th grade daughter, who is an overall strong student, prepare for SAT essay in a short period of time. Joy did an excellent job in communicating what is important in SAT essay writing and how to produce a good essay consistently. Those tips were very valuable. She also reviewed my daughter's work and gave her feed-backs. My daughter only had 3 lessons with Joy, but these 3 lessons gave her much confidence. We are very glad we looked for an SAT essay tutor on WyzAnt and found Joy. I would like to add that my daughter just found that she got 790 in SAT writing, thanks to Joy!

"Patient and Affordable Math Tutor"

I love to learn, and I love to teach even more. I became a tutor at a community college in 2012. Working at a community college, I realize and understand that most students struggle to make time for studying. As a result, I am very flexible. I graduated from Sinclair College with an Associate's Degree of Liberal Arts and Sciences in 2013 and I have also received an Associate's Degree of Mathematics in 2015. I am currently pursuing a Bachelor's Degree of Math Education at Wright State Univ... ... More

Availability: Mon/Tue/Wed afternoons & evenings. Location: Standley Lake Public Library. Attending Purdue University for math education, I quickly learned how much I love helping students understand math. It's my passion. I've found that simply learning formulas isn't the right way to learn. Students need to know what's going on, and then the formulas become easy! I have taught math at the high school level in four different schools and have experience tutoring. Experience: Math Teaching ... ... More

I am an experienced teacher who was the Math Department chairperson and an instructional leader (teacher of teachers) at a prestigious blue ribbon school. I taught and designed all math courses from prealgebra through calculus. I received a PhD from Columbia University where I studied Applied Physics. I enjoy teaching and I know I can help my students improve their skills. When I teach I try to see and explain my subjects from the student perspective. As a consequence my students tell me tha... ... More

My son said he understood Rodney's method of teaching. Caught him up from the last lesson, the current, and the next one to where he feels confident that he understands what is trying to be taught by his Pre-cal teacher in school. Definitely look forward the more great sessions and my son exceeding his own expectations of himself! Rodney was able to teach in a way my son could grasp the concepts.

"Math and Science Tutoring, ACT Preparation"

Algebra is the basic tool kit of all math classes your students will take in high school and beyond. It's also very important on the ACT Math test, a gateway to get into college. When I tutor more advanced subjects, I find that many students have problems with Algebra...which causes problems in Geometry, Algebra II (of course), and in Advanced Math, and Calculus. Knowing Algebra well is very important. I like to teach good techniques, memory aids, and alternatives to solve problems. I'd like to help your student. ... More

Tom has been very helpful in helping my 16 year old with his Algebra II. He's patient, and he sends me a report of everything they go over during their session. He has been great!
We have been very happy with Nicole. She is personable, professional, and has great suggestions for how to prepare and what to look for on tests. She takes the initiative to look up information that we would not be aware of: such as the type of questions they ask on certain tests, securing information from the internet to practice with and more. We will be asking her to work with us throughout the summer to reinforce skills and prepare for the upcoming school year. This was a great choice for us.
Mary quickly established an easy-going but focused learning connection with my 8th grader. He seems to hear what she says and is very willing to do the work she gives him to do after the sessions. She keeps him on focus and he has said that the sessions are excellent because he can understand and remember how she explains things.
Mark came very well-prepared (with only one day notice). He is knowledgeable on the subject, patient, and was explain to teach the concepts thoroughly. Would highly recommend this tutor.
