We used Eugenie one time because our daughter was having some difficulty in both. Our daughter after one session was able to catch on and we let Eugenie know that she is a wonderful tutor and very patient! We will be using her again if our daughter doesn't understand something in math again!!! Thank you Eugenie!!!

"Experienced Ivy League Tutor"
I have tutored many students in Algebra I, some honor students and others who are having greater difficulty with the subject. To help students, I first explore how their brains perceive mathematics and process algebraic calculations. Then, I revisit algebraic basics and procedures to increase students' facility with algebraic language and proofs. I insist that all follow Order of Operation, do stepbystep proofs and check all answers. I also try to empathize with difficulties and make work fun while pushing for accuracy. Recently, I helped a failing student get a "C". Another student imp ... More

I love teaching and training students to reach their full potential and be successful in school and in life. More importantly, I believe everyone has the potential to be the best they can be as long as they are made to believe in themselves, in their potential and innate abilities. I have had a lot of informal teaching experience as a Scoutmaster (woodbadger), volunteer in many student and professional organizations; and more formally as a undergraduate workstudy student and graduate researc... ... My name is Joel and I want to thank you for taking the time to explore my tutor profile. I wear many hats including being a physician in training, pianist, daytrader, and professional tutor.
To use an appropriate analogy, when you have car trouble, you take your car to a mechanic to fix the problem, NOT the salesman who sold it to you. As a professional tutor, I want to be your trusted mechanic. I am NOT a current/former teacher. Whereas teachers are trained to present "testable" informati... ... More

I was a little nervous going into the session. Midge was very accommodating and prepared for our tutoring session. She identified the areas in which I needed the most help and worked very patiently with me. The session was conducted at a comfortable pace.

I am a Master's level Certified Secondary Mathematics Teacher, and also teach math on the college level. I have been tutoring students in all subjects of middle, high school and college mathematics for 18 years, and have seen many students greatly improve their understanding, confidence, and grades in math as a result of my individual work with them.
I believe that students who understand the "why" underlying the mathematics come to appreciate its value and are therefore more successful. I w... ... More

He explained concepts very clearly and in different ways to make sure I understood. He was also very patient. The session was very helpful; I feel a lot more familiar and confident about the material we covered. I will definitely call him again for another session.

"Math Tutor. All levels up to graduate level"
I have taken both lower division and upper division classes in differential equations. Differential equations are encountered in many different disciplines, in courses such as business calculus, physics, mechanical engineering, and even in chemistry. Typically a little bit of differential equations is taught in the third calculus class (usually the calculus course which covers multivariable calculus).
The topics covered in the differential equations classes that I completed were as follows:
1) Separation of variables
2) Homogeneous equations
3) Exact equations
4) Linear equations
5) The equ ... More

Stephanie has a wonderful disposition and clearly defines where help is needed. She is very patient and spent the time well. She even extended her time into another hour knowing that it would refine the skills needed to understand the concepts. Thank you Stephanie!

I greatly appreciate Girlie making available some time for my daughter so quickly. It was a great help my daughter was very appreciative and was very eager to recreate some of her notes when she got home from the session. We look forward to seeing Girlie again.

Christine is a good teacher. My elder son, 9 y/o likes her and I asked if he's ok w/ her, and my son said she was able to relate with him and seems to know teaching well, however, my younger son, a 9 y/o could not relate to her teaching style, maybe Christine would be able to adjust the style when it comes to my other son. Suggestion: 1st 30 mins with my younger son & last 30 mins with my elder son. Except this coming Saturday only, 03/12/11, I requested Christine just for 30 mins only since we need to meet our other app't thereafter.

Serhiy is great teaching my son Geometry. When my son does not know how to solve a problem, he asks him questions to get him thinking of the problem. He does not just giving an answer. He is also very patient and dependable. He always comes on time. We like him very much. We are highly recommending him to be your tutor.
