Algebra 1 (first year) introduces to students the concepts of manipulating math variables, i.e. unknown quantities with which we set up equations to find (solve) them. In doing this students are learn the use of arithmetic operations to solve equations in algebra. Students are exposed to formulas and also how to convert or manipulate formulas to solve for specific values. Algebraic expressions are basic to the course as well as techniques to manipulate, simplify and evaluate them. These concepts and others carry over into all the levels of higher mathematics of which the first two years of alg ... More

Ear Training is a basic skill of music that allows students to recognize and identify individual notes, timbre, rhythms, scales, chords, pitches, and intervals. Such a skill will help students to become a better musician as they learn to sing or play an instrument. My own experience with ear training began when I was in high school learning chords and playing music on the organ. This led me to the point where, after I heard my own music in my head, I was able to write original songs down on music paper. While in college, I transcribed and arranged my songs for my own “combo”; we ... More

I went to school at Western Michigan University from 2007-2013 in order to pursue a teaching degree in Spanish and English Language Arts for middle school and high school-aged students. While there, I was fortunate to be able to interact with a variety of student types in both middle and high school settings at several locations. Reading opens a world of knowledge to every person. Finding topics that interest young readers is key in success. Also learning proper sounds for phonics enables success. I have taught students aged 4+ how to read music, and phonetics to elementary and middle school students. Making learning fun allows students to learn without realizing that they are working hard. ... More

Roger is great with my son! He is very patient and calm and in a very short time Roger has filled in a lot of the "gaps" my son had, and still has kept him up with his class. Roger also showed my son the importance of organizing and laying out a math problem properly. My son has said he feels like he is "getting it" and that's thanks to Roger.
Judy is very patient and nice tutor. My son, who easily gets tired of anything, waits for Judy every Friday. He enjoys the tutoring with Judy very much. She knows how to encourage kids while enjoying the study. I believe enjoyment is the most important aspect to do anything. I am sure my son's reading and writing level would be improved gradually.
Great tutor that was able to help me on short notice and did an amazing job explaining the material!! She really knows the material and is extremely helpful!
Lisa is never later for her appointment and values the time with students. She is the best tutor you can ask for. She is very patient and systematic. She makes sure that my English skills improve and there is a result after the sessions. Her teaching skills are easy to follow and understand and I do believe that I'm making a lot of progress.
