"Elementary Teacher Ready to Educate Our Youth!"
I'm Samantha! I recently graduated the University of Arizona with a degree in Elementary Education. During my time at the University of Arizona, I had the pleasure of working in Title 1 schools and running an after school program for the YMCA. I currently have my own classroom, where I enjoy watching my students blossom. I have done some tutoring through the after school program I ran. I love working with students one on one. During my education, I struggled with some subjects and wish I had ... ... More

The girls are absolutely loving the summer Spanish sessions. Francie is very thorough and creative; she thinks of unique and special ways of teach Spanish to my girls and the girls are quickly picking up the language. I believe a lot of it has to do with Mrs. Francie's skills and experience. She knows how to obtain a child's attention (whether they are singing Spanish songs, using the computer, making puppets or playing hopscotch) she incorporates Spanish into every activity and making the learning process so much fun for the girls. Thank you Mrs. Francie for taking the time to teach our girls and the girls anxiously look forward to the next lesson.

"English Tutoring"
Greetings!
Tutoring high school and college students is a joy. After I finished my Master of Arts degree in Higher Education at the University of Arizona, I began tutoring students individually and in pairs. Most of my students are Asian and are working on their Master's Degree or their PhDs. I have taught English in China, tutored a high school student from Japan and spent one summer assisting a student in intensive preparation for taking the TOEFL iBT.
I have taught at the local communit... ... More

I never really had confidence in math. In the fifth grade my math teacher was horrible to me calling me stupid and such. This year was a turning point in math for me, metaphorically and literally. Metaphorically fifth grade gave me a large biased towards math. Literally, fifth grade is when things get complicated, you learn how to multiply fractions, divide them, you even begin to plug things in. I new these concepts later from other math classes, but never fully conceptualized them in the fifth grade, it was hard for me to get through my later years of math. Where other kids easily know an answer about a fraction it takes me a moment to think about it. As I went through sixth, seventh, and eighth grade, I stayed in pre-algebra, never advancing. Finally I decided it was time to enter Algebra 1 in the ninth grade. I got a C that year but had yet to grasp the concepts. This pattern continued into Geometry, although I did get a B in that class, eleventh grade year, I decided it was high time to finally understand. And that I do with Deborah to guide me through problems. Having a teacher call you dumb and a lost cause can be scarring indefinitely. Deborah has been quite the opposite of that teacher, she has been patient with me, even if it meant going back to things I should have learned in the sixth, seventh, and eighth grade. She has made me care more about math than I ever did before. Without her I would be falling behind, with no chance of catching up. If I don't get something she explains it. If I still don't get it she continues to explain it, or has me do drills. When she brought fractions to our tutoring sessions after she had seen that I have issues with them I was surprised, I felt as though she had gone out of her way to help me, and also because she was point blank in the fact that I didn't know how to do them and I needed to learn how. That's what I like about Deborah, often times you hear, "They go above and beyond trying to help." But it is truth in this scenario, Deborah does more than what her job encompasses. That shows me that she rather than saying like my fifth grade teacher, "You're dumb." She says, "Okay, you don't know it. How can you improve? How can we change that?" She devotes the time and the effort into changing it with me. I know without her I would be lost in my Algebra 2 class, but now, I actually raise my hand without fear of being wrong. The difference between the me in past math classes, and the me now, is that before I thought I was or knew I was wrong. Now? Now I know I'm right. So I raise my hand proudly.

I believe that Veronika deserves the title of my review. I have searched and contacted several German language tutors to assist my 10 year old daughter in continuing her German learning. It was not an easy process, especially because my daughter was in a German school until her 4th grade, so it was a must to find a native German tutor to help Sohaila in the best possible way after her move to a public school.
Luckily, I had contact with Veronika by e-mail and from the first correspondence, I could tell that she knows well what she is doing and that she is committed. After a couple of sessions I could also tell that she is not an ordinary tutor who just communicates certain material with my daughter, but she was very keen to make sure that my daughter enjoys the time they spent together.
I also cannot thank Veronika enough for the exceptional act she arranged - she has special ordered a 4th grade text book from Germany to be used as the main learning material with my daughter. Veronika didn't even ask me to pay for it, which I really appreciated. This act proved that she is not only a great tutor but also a very reliable person, and that we as a family could count on her to keep our daughter learning German as she was at school.
On behalf of my daughter and the entire family, I appreciate your efforts, professionalism, and kindness and do hope to continue such an excellent and enjoyable experience with our daughter.
