Throughout my education, I’ve tried a lot of study strategies. I’ve found that what works best for me is not reading or lectures, but conversation. That knowledge is what informs my tutoring approach. I talk to my students until I can focus down to the core of their understanding, then I build out until they have a confident grasp on the material. I was an English teacher for 22 years. I taught students in grade levels 6-12. I coordinated senior projects and prepared students for the PSSAs. Following graduation from Penn State, I began working at an Early Intervention Preschool that housed students that were either regular education or students with Individualized Education Plans. We also were the only preschool in our district to have two classrooms dedicated entirely to students on the Autism Spectrum Disorder.
