I enjoyed the first lesson with her and my son. She kept my son very interested and immediately recognized what lessons she could address by asking the right questions. I would recommend this tutor for anyone!

"Tutor for computer skills, grade-school subjects, ADD, crafts & music."

I have had ADD all of my life and have learned, and continue to use, various coping skills to ensure I'm an effective person. I have also worked with ADD/ADHD preschool children and I know some of what works and what does not work in teaching them. I'm eager to teach these coping skills to others so that they, to, can be effective. ... More

"The Book You Don't Read, Won't Help "

I've always prided myself on my ability to help people. All through high school I helped students with most of their academic needs. In high school I was strong in the areas of science and math. I chose to focus more on humanities, English, and writing when I went to college. I attend the University of Houston. I can help students write papers of any kind, literature is a strong suit. I can help with math on any level up to calculus. Weightlifting and basketball are fortes of mine in t... ... More

Margaret has started tutoring my 7 year old with 2nd grade reading, comprehension, spelling and writing. She is great, nice, knowledgeable and connected with my son in no time. He seems to really enjoy his time with her. I see a huge change in just a few sessions on his attitude towards homework in general and reading in particular. He is existed and I see his self-confidence rising. I’m very glad we found Margaret and look forward to continue to work with her.

"Patient & Encouraging Tutor"

Hi, my name is Maggie and I am a very experienced tutor with over 16 years experience that wants nothing more than to see each of my student's knowledge and confidence grow! My approach includes patience, presenting concepts in multiple ways, and teaching utilizing concrete methods before abstract. I use as many 'hands on' manipulatives to introduce concepts because it's fun (and who doesn't like fun?) and it makes it easier to 'see' what's really going on. I am firm believer in 'it's no... ... My son was very reluctant when I told him I hired a tutor for him, but after spending an hour with Michael he was agreeable to continue with the tutoring. Michael came well prepared with materials that he thought might interest my son and was prepared to discuss topics that he knew my son was interested in. He showed my son some very useful sites online to help him with his grammar. Michael communicated with me before and after the tutoring session to keep me well informed about what his plans were and how the session went.

"Published award-winning writer, college teacher writing & ESL"

In and out of the classroom I strive to inspire in students an intense curiosity about the world around them: the history of all cultures and peoples, literature from every continent, and a profound respect for all religious traditions. I also attempt to explain that learning is a lifelong endeavor that only begins in a classroom or tutoring session. In my view, it is the demanding responsibility of a lifelong learner to work diligently and thoroughly to respond intelligently and reasonably... ... More
