"Experienced tutor specializing in languages and art. "

Hi! My name is Fiona, and I'm a dual degree candidate at Boston University specializing in painting and psychology. I am currently a working freelance artist and I have been tutoring for three years, focusing on art (digital and traditional) and languages (English and Chinese). I'm Asian-American, so I grew up bilingual. Feel free to contact me for my art website too. I am originally from Taiwan, so I grew up bilingual and spent half of my life in China, and the other half here in the U.S... ... More

Paul was amazing with our daughter. She had to make a speech in front of 2,400 people for graduation. With Paul's assistance, she prepared, rehearsed, edited and rehearsed again until she had it right and felt confident enough to present. The date came and she hit a home run! She felt real good with the way Paul worked with her and ensured she had the right tools to perform. Paul is patient, caring, respectful and goes the extra step to ensure the student is getting all the input needed to perform the duties as expected. I would recommend his expertise, especially if the parents are removed from the goal as we did. Our input would not work being the parents.

"Published writer and accomplished researcher, teacher, and editor"

To Students and Parents: Although I'd be delighted to work with students who are high school age or older, I particularly enjoy working with adults to help them refine and polish their writing skills, prepare for presentations, and read with deeper understanding and comprehension. To my work with students I bring years of experience as a high school English teacher, a published writer, and a magazine editor. My tutoring approach is straightforward, practical, and pragmatic: good writing i... ... More

"Professional Instruction in Science, Math, and Computers"

I taught elementary level students over a period of about 10 years as a classroom teacher, and continued after that as a visiting science presenter. I worked in private schools where multidisciplinary approaches were used, integrating writing into math and science classes. In one school I worked with students in small groups on independent study projects, which gave me a lot of experience in working with students as individuals as well as as a class. Combined with my earlier work in experiential and outdoor education, I feel that this gives me a unique set of skills to bring to a student's ... More

"Effective teacher with 27 years' experience"

I have been teaching academic reading and study skills, writing, and SAT prep courses for 27 years. Among the more than thirty colleges at which I have taught study skills are Amherst, Williams, Bucknell University, and the United States Naval Academy. My teaching has always emphasized a simple rule: if you know how a piece of writing was construced by the author, you will know how to reverse the process to take it apart and find its essential meaning. If you know how a test is const... ... More

I would highly recommend Theresa as a math tutor. She has helped my daughter to understand new concepts in both Algebra 1 and Geometry. She brought significant clarity to subjects and my daughter greatly enjoyed working with her. She has been exceptionally helpful in transitioning to public school, offering guidance as to testing, pace of study and curriculum merits. My daughter also made progress with focus and the ability to sustain independent work thanks to her time with Theresa. We found her to go above and beyond what we asked, and were impressed by how committed she is to her tutoring students.

"Home/ online tutor (learning coach). Special Ed and math area special"

I am a certified special education teacher. I have experience with ADD/ADHD students, Aspberger's/ spectrum Disorder students and mild to moderate disabilities. ADD/ADHD students require a lot of patience and monitoring to keep them on task. They need assistance with organization and methods to keep themselves organized. Often these students miss important information in class as they have a classic tendency to hear only the first and last things said. Tutoring will provide the missing information to fill in those educational gaps. ... More
