Ms. J. is terrific! I went to her to learn Excel. This wasn't my first run at it, but this is the first time I was able to follow what we were doing. I'm technophobic and innumerate, and too often people attempting to teach me either move too fast or lose patience. Not so, Ms. J., a professional teacher who showed me why she's been in demand by some of the country's leading secondary schools. I'm a lawyer with degrees from four different universities, including Harvard, and I've encountered no better teaching. Ms. J. quickly adjusted to my pace, answered my questions without wincing, and we made enough progress in one session to make me eager for more. She's also pleasant company. After I knock off Excel, under her tutelage, I may even ask her to teach me physics, a subject I avoided like a social disease, all through school. Who knows--I may yet get a Nobel.

"Physics Made Phun!"

I am a physics teacher with 20 years of experience. I have worked in various settings in the past -- as a researcher at Columbia University, as an MCAT course developer at Stanley Kaplan, and as a teacher. I have taught everything from 7th grade general science, to physics, to astronomy, to AP physics. Physics is the kind of subject where you don't know what you really think, until you have heard what you've said. Having a physics buddy to talk over places where you struggle in the curric... ... "Physics Ph.D., professional, easygoing teacher for all levels"

I specialize in teaching and explaining physics; it's what I do. I strive to make it less scary in person, and I also put a lot of work into making online tutoring (through the WyzAnt website) as immediate and personal as being there. I have CURRENT college teaching experience, planning and leading (without any TAs) introductory physics classes (both calculus- and algebra-based; the kind of material that shows up in AP and Honors Physics Classes) at Bridgewater State University in Massachus... ... Mike is a great tutor. My son is a junior in high school. He's needed assistance in Algebra II. Mike puts the algebra material into a context that he understands. He's very patient. I'd highly recommend him for Algebra as well as preparation for SATs.

"Let your knowledge shine through ..."

Over 20 years ago, I was a college sophomore who had a difficult time getting through my freshman year. Classes seemed so much bigger and the organization required to get all of the work done seemed so much more difficult to me than high school did. I spoke with my adviser and was recommended to get some academic testing done. I was diagnosed with this thing called ADD and had not idea what it was or how exactly my affected my ability to learn, but at least I had a place to begin. Since that time, I have dedicated my life to working with students in need of something "more". The first tut ... More

"Math and Science Expert"

My name is Paul, and I have studied math and science heavily throughout high school and college. In high school, I took several AP classes, including Calculus AB, Chemistry, and Biology, and scored 4s or 5s on each. I went on to graduate as top of my class, valedictorian for the year 2010. After high school, I studied physics, mathematics, and chemistry at the University of Arkansas. I graduated with a physics degree, with an emphasis in biophysics, and a mathematics minor this past year. Sin... ... More

Mark loves math! My son was overwhelmed by the challenge of Business Calculus. Mark was patient and clear and helped him understand what had once been confusing. Mark helped put him back on track. We made the right choice when we chose him.
Jennifer is an experienced English teacher. She is well prepared for lessons. She brought her own materials to supplement my son's homework.
