My daughter was very frustrated with grade level reading and writing. She saw Suzanne once a week for about 5-6 months and I saw much improved reading and writing, as well and more confidence in her ability to read and write. Suzanne was helpful, patient as well as having a sense of humor. She worked with the classroom teacher and her tutoring was right on track with what they were doing in the classroom. We had a great experience!

"Elementary and Special Education Teacher (K-8)"

I am a retired Massachusetts teacher with lots of elementary teaching (K-8) experience including special education. I retired early because it made sense after 34 years, but I still have the passion and desire to teach and watch kids blossom under my tutelage. I still work part time teaching math in a public school and keep up to date with the new Common Core Standards and best practices in education. I usually tutor in my home, but I sometimes (depending on my schedule) tutor in a student'... ... More

Shannon C.

7 review reviews
Shannon started tutoring my daughter, a high school junior, this past spring, in English and Chemistry. He rapidly assessed the course work, areas she struggled with, and was very effective In moving her work forward, such that she improved more than a full letter grade in English, and a full grade in Chemistry and went into final exams with confidence. Shannon is excellent at literature analysis, writing mechanics, vocabulary - and his teaching style is creative and tailored to the student. He gives lots of practical tips As to how to move forward even when the subject topic is not your favorite. He's also excellent in Chemistry again, assessing both the coursework required and teaching specific concepts as well as how to approach the material. Shannon is punctual, realistic and positive in his approach, and makes every effort to be flexible with appointment times and provide the tutoring time needed. He really helped my student get back on track and end her school year successfully!

"English, Math, and Science - Grade School, High School, and College"

While completing my MBA, I took graduate courses in economics, and did very well. I've also had many years experience in real-world economics and business, working in a number of industries and running my business. I look forward to helping students understand some of the more complex concepts, especially as they relate to the marketplace today. ... More

Nathan K.

I have really appreciated Nathan's willingness to think deeply about how to help my 11th grade son with his writing assignments, and more fundamentally, with figuring out how to master this intellectual challenge. Nathan goes beyond getting the task done and wants his students to have the tools to tackle the kinds of thinking and writing that they will need in college and even graduate school with intellectual integrity. Nathan recognizes that the technical skills for writing that are taught in school do not work for everyone and that at this stage, a student needs to develop his own system with some self awareness about it so that it can become a personal strategy for tackling writing tasks in college and a career. Sometimes the process seems slow (we benefit from longer, more frequent sessions) but Nathan is more of a coach than just a homework helper. Nathan is very smart, totally present, on time always, persistent and understanding.

"Theory Meets Practice"

I specialize in moving you from where you are to where you want to be. My style is a whole-life approach to learning. That is all. If I am familiar with it, I can teach you. In most cases, if I don't know it, I can teach myself and help you improve. My experience is that learning is both simple and pleasurable when you approach it with the right mind. I have a B.S. in Psychological Science from WPI (located in Worcester, MA) which is essentially an undergraduate degree in designing and ana... ... More
