"Patient ADD/ADHD, Elementary Ed. Tutor"

First and foremost I have a child of my own who has ADD/ADHD so I understand the "parent side" of this disability. For the academic side, I have taught ADD/ADHD students in different settings since I was 18 years old. From going on week long camping trips in the BWCAW, to being an academic supporter for a day treatment center for children of mental disabilities just this past year. I have my graduate degree from Bethel, and am licensed specifically to teach children with this disability. I have too many years of experience in this area to list specifically all techniques and methods. ... More

"Special Education Teacher with a passion for learning!"

I have 15 years of professional experience working with children with special needs. I started my career as a Behavior Therapist for children with Autism in home-based settings in the Minneapolis suburbs in 2002. I moved to NYC in 2005 and continued my career as a Behavior Therapist independently, traveling with my clients to school, summer camps, various locations around NYC for community outings, and continued my work in-home as well. In 2007 I started working in an Applied Behavior Anal... ... More

"Experience with students who find traditional schools challenging"

Everyone is a learner, and everyone can learn--even when it doesn’t seem possible. As a tutor, I help a student figure out what makes learning new things so hard and how to work with that. I help the student learn new information and create sets of resources and skills to use with future learning challenges. Much of my experience has been in educational settings for students eligible for special education services and in settings for other students who struggle in traditional school envir... ... More

"Experienced, professional tutor"

I am an experienced professional tutor who has been tutoring for over 15 years. In addition, I recently worked for five years for a private company that specialized in ACT and SAT tutoring. I have experience in-person and online; and teaching small groups, and 1-on-1. In addition to all portions of the GRE, GMAT, ACT and the SAT (including the newest versions), I have experience tutoring high-school level Spanish, Economics, Business, Finance, Algebra, Geometry, Literature, History, and AP... ... Our son is a VERBAL learner and struggles with abstract concepts. Math is his most challenging subject. From their first meeting, Jessie has worked very hard to earn his trust and understand what interests him. She has a gentle and cheerful personality. She has been very responsive to working on the areas we suggest as well as those she has assessed. Jessie even attended a meeting with his teachers at school to make sure her efforts were coordinated with his "team" of teachers and to better understand his learning style. Jessie seems to strike a good balance of making him feel good about what he is learning simply from encouragement and offering occasional rewards like M&Ms (with our permission of course. Chocolate is a big deal around here!). Jessie is always on time, flexible when there is a conflict, and patient and persistent when he is having trouble focusing. We appreciate her contribution to his growth. The biggest compliment I can give is that our son doesn't complain on the days when she comes for tutoring! Jessie has been successful at making his most challenging subject FUN instead of a CHORE, which is really every parent's goal in helping their child learn. I have no complaints and really can't say enough good about her. Thanks Jessie!

"Energetic math tutor for all ages!"

I worked as a special education paraprofessional for two years at an elementary school. I spent my days working with special needs students that had trouble focusing due to their ADD. I learned several techniques to use in trainings, as well as working with their classroom teachers. The students just need someone with patience, and also someone who can help them work through their hardships. ... More

Alaa is a very encouraging tutor. He is ready to teach an Arabic curriculum that meets your needs; whether you want to learn everyday spoken Arabic (Levantine) or more Classical Arabic, he is more than accommodating to teach either. I highly recommend!
My son enjoyed working with Elizabeth. She is very patient and knowledgeable in chemistry. She explained some of the more difficult concepts in a way that he could understand. He felt very comfortable with her and felt that he learned more from her than going to class 3 times per week. We would highly recommend Elizabeth for any student who is struggling in Chemistry or just trying to improve their grade.
I showed her some bad grades of my daughter's tests, and Jeanine examined it, studied it for next session. She's very patient. My daughter loves to learn with her. Recommended.
