How do I find and contact tutors?
To start visit our home page and by using our search feature you can type in the subject/zip code in the search box and this will give you a list of tutors near your location. To contact a tutor just visit the profile page of a tutor and look for the “Contact me" or “Message to tutor".
The best way to find a good tutor is to thoroughly read their profile description. After that you will want to contact them and ask any follow up questions you might have. It’s a good idea to contact multiple tutors offering the same subject in your area so you can pick the one who is the best fit for your needs.
If they are a tutor who signed up directly on our website (and not our partner’s site) then you would have to make that arrangement directly with the tutor as ilcusa has no involvement in the payment process. The most common method of payment for in-person tutoring is to pay them in cash or check, although some might offer other means of payment such as PayPal.
This is completely up to the tutors themselves. Ilcusa tutors have the option of charging between 5$ and $99 for a lesson although the average tutor in general charges between $25 and $35 per lesson.
Ilcusa is a does not directly screen tutors. You should always use caution and common sense when dealing with anybody online that you do not have a preexisting relationship with.
We have a partnership with some 3rd party sites who list tutors. This allows us to offer a very comprehensive database of potential tutors to students.

What is the purpose of your website?
The simplest answer is our site allows tutors and students to connect with one another for mutual benefit of both parties.
The site is completely free for tutors to use.
This is completely up to you and the student (or the students parents) to arrange. Ilcusa has no involvement in the payment process. The most common forms of payment would be Cash/Check and in some cases a 3rd party payment service such as PayPal.
Completing a detailed profile explaining you credentials and experience is probably the most helpful way to generate contacts from students. You also want to make sure you complete each subject you offer with details that would make you stand out for the given subject.
At this time we allow each tutor to offer a maximum of 5 tutoring subjects.
This depends on too many factors to give a definitive answer on. All we can say is that ilcusa was built for the purpose of helping connect tutors with students and each month we get 1000s of visitors looking for qualified tutors.
Students interested in your service will contact you by filling out the contact form on our website. Once this has been done you will receive a notification email to log in and you can review and respond to the potential student.
In addition to allowing tutors to sign up on our website, we also host our partners tutoring profiles. This gives our website a more comprehensive list of qualified tutors to students. If you are already signed up with our partner Wyzant then there is no need to also sign up on our website because you will already be listed on ilcusa.
Sure. While the majority of lessons offered by tutors are in person you are more then welcome to offer your service to students online.
If you lost your password please use our reset feature located here. Once you enter your email in the form further instructions will be sent to you and our system will issue a new password.
Changing your password is pretty easy
1. Make sure you are logged into your account
2. On the left navigation menu inside your account area you will see a button that say’s “Account Settings” click it.
3. On “Account Settings” page scroll to the bottom and input your old password, then enter your new password 2 times and click change. That’s it!
If you’re not going to be available and do not wish to have students contact you you can set your tutoring profile to “Hidden” in your account area. Do the following:
1. Make sure you are logged into your account
2. On the left navigation menu inside your account area you will see a button that say’s “Account Settings” click it.
3. On “Account Settings” page you will see an option for setting your profile to “Hidden” (default is visible) Simply click this to hidden and your profile will be hidden and remain hidden until you set it to visible again.
We are sorry to see you go. If you plan to offer tutoring in the future we suggest you simply set your profile to “Hidden” in your account settings area then you can mark it visible when you’re teaching again. However if you never plan to offer tutoring again then you can delete your profile from the site completely by doing the following:
1. Make sure you are logged into your account
2. On the left navigation menu inside your account area you will see a button that say’s “Account Settings” click it.
3. On the “Account Settings” page you will see the text “Close Account” to close your account just check the tick box that you understand this will completely remove and delete your information from our website. Then click the “Close Account” button. If you wish to sign up again in the future you can.
