The ILC-USA works to address many challenges as we consider public policies and issues surrounding the health and financial well-being of our aging population. At a time when direct service programs so often trump those that work strategically to solve problems, we've demonstrated that the two are not only compatible, but work closely together. Over the past year and into 2009, we remain committed to our signature projects.

WORLD CITIES PROJECT
The World Cities Project compares health, social services, and quality of life for persons age 65 and over in four world cities: New York, London, Paris, and Tokyo. As urbanization and population aging increase throughout the world, we are providing models to accommodate these population shifts, as well as analyses of best practices.
CAREGIVING
The Caregiving Project for Older American aims to improve the recruitment, training and retention of caregivers in the US. We will create and disseminate the first-ever national curricula, and develop and promote a national accreditation and certification process (neither of which exist today).
CLINICAL EDUCATION
Our Clinical Education activities offer collaborative assistance to governments, non-governmental organizations, academic institutions, community hospitals and clinics, and community agencies in establishing new clinical, educational, and policy approaches to improve health care provisions for older adults around the world.
AGEISM
The Ageism in America project pushes ageism into the public discourse. Less acknowledged than sexism or racism, our comprehensive research shows that ageism and associated stereotyping is no less harmful. The initiative encourages public and private institutions to remedy ageist attitudes, policies and practices.

Join Our Effort
Together, we can address all the concerns of our aging population. To achieve our goals, we must demonstrate a continued commitment to ensuring healthy, long lives free from elder abuse and with the support of well-trained professional caregivers. I hope you will join us in this effort.
