Victor Rodwin, Ph.D. Interviewed on PBS' WorldFocus

Chile's “AUGE” health care plan provides universal health coverage to low-income Chileans. However, how quickly you get treated actually depends on what disease you have and how likely you are to be cured. PBS nightly newscast Worldfocus WorldFocus explores the situation in Chile.

Our World Cities Project Co-Director Victor Rodwin, Ph.D. is subsequently interviewed about the intricacies of the health care system in Chile and how it compares to the United States.

Rodwin explains how a health care system that targets only diseases that are widespread and treatable can make sense. He also talks about the fact that the United States has a similar system in place for kidney disease, although few are aware of it. Watch the three-minute long interview, below.
