It is important to understand that most information isn't 'concrete' and often times the ability to understand abstract ideas and concepts can be most challenging for these kiddos. Using concrete tools and really helps with the ability to process and retain information.

I have worked with SLP's, OT's, and PT's in an academic setting incorporating some of the rich tools and ideas that they bring to the table as well. I have seen the benefit of "Social Stories" to help with the ability to 'relate' to a situation that they haven't had any exposure or experience in currently. I have worked in a school setting using the TEACCH approach and am familiar with the ABA approach as well.
