To make learning worthwhile.
Meher A. - Author, Inventor and Sr. Math Instructor
Working with kids facing ADD/ADHD requires Patience, Skill and the desire to reach out to them by giving them the attention they deserve.
I have demonstrated that by helping kids facing OCD/ADD/ADHD for over 10-years.
In dealing with kids my experience has taught me that:
"If you don't give attention,
the child will get your attention."
I have applied this philosophy specifically in dealing with kids facing attention related challenges and have made a remarkable difference in the lives of numerous kids.
It is because I choose to see the child first before the behavior;
and have learned to differentiate the child from the behavior.
This has helped me to build a strong and trustworthy relationship with kids.
Furthermore, the 7- key ingredients in my SPECIAL teaching approach embody the following:
1. Focusing on
Shaping the WILL
Without shaking the SPIRIT
2. Identifying, recognizing and understanding the dominant learning style of the child.
These learning styles include Tactile, Visual (Spatial), Aural (Auditory/Musical),
Verbal (Linguistic), Physical (Kinesthetic), Logical (Mathematical), Social (Interpersonal); and Solitary (Intrapersonal).
This helps to improve the speed and quality of one’s learning.
3. Providing directions that are precise and clear and splitting them into smaller steps.
4. Minimizing surrounding noise and/or environmental clutter.
5. Handling any changes gradually.
6. Giving them a continuous dose of affirmative feedback as they show progress to further inspire them to excel.
7. Incorporating a hands-on interactive and collaborative study session.
I have used all of the above strategies while working diligently
with kids facing OCD/ADD/ADHD challenges
from Grades 2-11 for the "NO CHILD LEFT BEHIND PROGRAM"
in Placentia, Yorba Linda, Huntington Beach,
Santa Ana and Newport - Costa Mesa School Districts.
I have also worked very closely with OCD/ADD/ADHD
as well as Autistic kids for the Orange County Children’s Therapeutic ARTS Center.
I have also worked with Elementary, Middle School and High School Students being home-schooled to make learning a vibrant, engaging, educational, and joyful experience.
Nearly all of my students have achieved
a better understanding of Math concepts
with a strategic increase in grades.
It is because I am committed, accessible and caring.
My goal is to ensure that each student reaches their full potential to secure a successful future.
My prime focus is on "teaching the student" not just the coursework,
which makes an immense impact on affirmative learning by
building competence and soaring confidence,
with motivation, focus, and problem solving skills.
And, my individualized attention ensures that the child remains engaged
which fosters an attentive and effective
learning atmosphere of curiosity and creativity.
My Hands-on interactive and collaborative style of teaching
empowers a child with special needs to be his or her VERY best.
I encourage you to discover how a better understanding
of Math can change your child's attitude
towards learning under my expert guidance.
