I have a BA in Special Education from Michigan State University and an expired Michigan Teaching Certificate. I have received tenure in 3 Michigan School Districts. I have served as a resource room teacher in elementary, middle and high schools. I provided services to ADD/ADHD students for over 10 years. In addition, I am the parent of an ADD student who is a college graduate.
I have two years of successful teaching experience with students who have Autism. I worked with them in a resource room setting as well as helping them mainstream into the general education setting. I understand their great need for structure and routine. I have been successful in preparing Autistic students for new experiences and in helping develop coping strategies for stressful situations.
