Subjects

  • ACT Math

  • ADD/ADHD

With tutoring over the years I am very familiar with ADD/ADHD and work to help students to focus and prioritize their work. One of the most important skills that the ADD/ADHD student needs is a very organized notebook for each subject. Many students do poorly because their information is scattered all over the place and there is not a uniform method for maintaining information. Mathematics contains many different skills. In order to be successful, students need to do enough of the problems to see the patterns. This information needs to be neatly organized in a notebook so every new school year they can refer to it.

  • elementary (k-6th)

I would love to help students in elementary school build a strong foundation. This involves study and organizational skills as well as filling in gaps in understanding so that they can build from it. Though I am not a PA certified elem school teacher, I have 2 daughters that are now in 9th and 5th grade who have gotten straight A's due to the hard work and diligence that I helped to instill in them. I have taught 2nd grade math in a Christian school and have homeschooled a full curriculum for 3rd, 4th and 5th grade. I am very familiar with all subjects and how to approach learning them.

  • elementary math

Though I am a certified secondary education teacher (7-12th) I have experience in teaching 2nd-6th grade mathematics. In addition to tutoring students in this age group, I have home-schooled my daughters in 3rd-8th grade mathematics so I am familiar with the material. Since I am aware of what skills will be used in the harder maths I can help your child prepare a strong foundation for the courses that are coming up in the future.

  • geometry

  • GMAT

Please note that I can only help you with the Math portion of the GMAT. Before we start I would get a practice book and complete as many of the math questions as possible. I look forward to helping you prepare for this test. Please let me know what date you plan to take the test.

  • GRE

Please note that I only help prepare for the math portion of the GRE. Before we meet, I would ask you to do as many practice math problems as possible so that I can see on our first meeting how much work we need to do.

  • study skills

I have taught high school math from 2000 to present. Study Skills are to help the student become organized so that they can become successful in having all homework completed and tests are prepared for. Study skills success doesn't necessarily mean an A+ in each subject, but that the student at least has all the tools they need to strive for the best grade that they are capable of. Many students could get better grades but are just unorganized. The student needs to learn how to organize, so that he or she always knows daily what is expected, with their papers in order and have organized exactly what to study for tests. I would look at the students needs and then go from there.
