Deutsch macht Spass!
I've taught and tutored German professionally for over 4 years and I love watching students learn German and become more confident speakers. My two greatest strengths are 1) understanding your needs immediately so I can meet you where you are in your learning process and 2) finding the fun in the work--so you learn what you need to learn and have more enjoyment in the process!
We will work together in every session to create lessons to fit your learning needs. Here are ...
I am a certified instructor for English as a Foreign Language/English as a Second Language with a CELTA certificate from the University of Cambridge. I specialize in Business, Conversational, and Technical English to youth, teenagers, and adults.
In 2003, I moved to Germany with only basic skills and with the help of some fantastic instructors who really understood German grammar and how to make it interesting and fun, I became fluent at a rapid pace and spoke near-native German by the time I moved back to the US in 2008. I've been teaching German for three years now, and it is incredible to see students grow in their skills, their comprehension, and their excitement for the language and for German-speaking countries.
"Deutsche Sprache, schwere Sprache" - "German is hard"
That's what so many people say, however I beg to differ--German is very fun! German is actually a very logical language. It has many exceptions, but overall it's very logical. I like to use all four learning modalities (visual, auditory, kinesthetic, and tactile) to meet your best way of learning.
Los geht's! Ich freue mich, dich kennenzulernen! Let's go! I'm looking forward to meeting you!
I'm also a teacher for Piano for Beginners for children, teenagers, and adults. I've been teaching piano since 2004 (the same as voice). I am a professional, classical singer and have taught beginning piano to children, teenagers, and adults in German and in English using the European Piano Method, Piano Kids, the Bastien Method, and now the Faber & Faber Method.
I've been performing professionally since 2000 and have been performing for 20 years already. I have a Bachelor of Music Performance with a concentration in voice, including Honors, from Augsburg College in Minneapolis, Minnesota (2001). I also have a Master of Music in Classical Voice from the Manhattan School of Music (2003). I've been teaching voice since 2004 and I instruct beginners, intermediate, and advanced singers; lessons can be held in English or in German.
